POLICE football club have become the second club after APR to get an overseas coach after handing a one year contract to Serbian Goran Kopunovic.

According to the club’s team manager Hamadi Ndanguzo, the coach’s tasks are to win the Primus National Football League title and qualify the club for the Orange African champions’ league.

"We want this team to win the Primus league and play in the elite Champions league,” Ndanguzo said before allaying concerns that the club may face the same predicament as Atraco, who spent a lot of money on foreign coaches and players and in the end, ran bankrupt.

"There won’t be such a problem because this was a carefully thought out decision.” the team manager said.
The 43-year-old Kopunovic is a former Serbian striker who retired in 2001 and later had coaching stints in Saudi Arabia and China.

With Kiyovu having a bad start in the league, Police FC and Rayon Sport look like the clubs to challenge APR for this year’s league title.

Police FC is currently two points adrift of APR after wins over Amagaju and Muhanga and a 1-1 draw with the Blues.
