CNLG welcomes Kanyarukiga sentence

The National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has issued a statement welcoming the decision by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) for the sentence given to Gaspard Kanyarukiga, a former businessman in the former Commune Kivumu (Western Province).

The National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has issued a statement welcoming the decision by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) for the sentence given to Gaspard Kanyarukiga, a former businessman in the former Commune Kivumu (Western Province).

Kanyarukiga was recently sentence to 30 years in prison for Genocide crimes. "The sentence handed to Kanyarukiga serves as call to countries to partner with Rwanda in bringing to justice whoever took part in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi,” reads CNLG statement.

In a recent interview with The New Times, the ICTR Prosecutor, Hassan Bubacar Jallow, said that his office was pleased that Kanyarukiga had been found guilty.
