JEAN Paul Munyankindi has become the first coach to lose his job this season, Times Sport has learnt.

The former Police coach joined the Southern Province club in the off-season after replacing Ali Bizimana on a one-year contract but the team’s awful start in the Primus league left the club management with no choice.

Mukura opened their campaign with a 1-0 defeat against reigning champions APR and while this defeat would be quite explicable, losses to Etincelles and newly promoted La Jeunesse forced the management to act.

Munyankindi’s termination is not entirely hinged on the club’s poor start as club president Abraham Ntayandi explained.

"He did not command the respect of the dressing room because he was very indisciplined. He was drinking too much and coming for training sessions late,” Ntayandi grumbled.

However, the tongue splitting Munyankindi has denied those allegations insisting that he was not sacked.
"I tendered in my resignation because the club did not have a clear agenda, it has a history of failing to pay its players’ salaries and lacks quality players,” the 43-year-old said.

"Players got their September salaries on Friday last week so I think you now get the picture,” a furious Munyankindi continued.

Mukura are at the foot of the league table.
