APR 2-1 Kiyovu

REIGNING champions APR maintained their 100 per cent start to the new season by gunning down SC Kiyovu yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

The eleven time champions battled out a 2-1 win to stay top on the league table with nine points from three games.

Abbas Rassou put APR ahead with a well timed header on the 37th minute but Dady Birori leveled for the green baggies three minutes to half time with a powerful header.

The second half started slowly but picked up mid-way. On the 76th minute, Kabange Twite rose above Kiyovu defenders to head in the winner.

APR’s new coach Ernie Brandts was vividly happy with the performance.

It could have been a lot worse for Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side had the effervescent Haruna Niyonzima, Jean Claude Iranzi and Victor Nyirenda converted their chances.

Niyonzima set up both goals to further assert why he is such a key player for the army side.

With scores level, Ntagwabira beefed up his attack by bringing on the striking duo of Yusuf Ndayishimiye and Eric Serugaba but they failed to break down APR’s backline manned by Mbuyu Twite.

The win took APR atop the table with nine points, two clear of AS Kigali, Rayon Sports, Police and Etincelles who are tied in second place.
