Over 48,000 people will undergo training in ICT business skills, entrepreneurship and customer care by 2013 in a progamme that is currently being undertaken by DOT-Rwanda.
According to Violette Uwamutara, Programme Manager, DOT-Rwanda, the target is mainly youth and women. "We highly consider the youth and women in our programmes, and part of our struggle is to make sure that the project benefits people equally in terms of gender,”
Uwamutara revealed the development during a ceremony to award certificates to 40 trainees from the three districts of Kigali city at Ecole Sainte Perpetue Primary school in Gatenga, Kicukiro district.
Over 450 aspiring entrepreneurs have already acquired skills in ICT, entrepreneurship and customer care.
"I am a businessman but I believe I will be better than before since I am now able to systematically operate having acquired skills in bookkeeping, checking on the business performance and techniques of better service provision, among others,” Eric Mutabazi, one of the trainees, said.
He added that meeting other people through the course of the training was also "part of the learning process.”
