APR vs SC Kiyovu

League pretenders Rayon Sport and Police shared the spoils on the third day of the 2010/11 Primus National Football League (PNFL) season in a lively match played at Nyamirambo stadium on Saturday.

Midfielder Jerome Sina scored a stunning header on 70th minutes to put Rayon in the lead but Ugandan import Meddie Kagere canceled it out with a magnificent header on 85th minute.

The Blues, who dominated the game wasted several goal scoring opportunities in Abedi Mulenda, Didier Mburo and Gadhi Niyonshuti.

Both teams displayed an attacking game in the first half as it was clear that all sides were looking for a win from the onset. But despite the attacking play, it took 70 minute for the first goal to arrive, when Sina headed home after goalie Evariste Muhayimana failed to hold a corner kick.

But with five minutes left on the clock, defender Clement Mukunzi dribbled past Frank Makengo to set up Kagere, who wasted no moment to slam home a deserved equalizer for Police.

After the third day, both sides remain tied on top of the league table with seven points each. But the situation is likely to chance after this afternoon’s clash between then two pre season title favourites, APR and Kiyovu at Amahoro stadium.

Elsewhere, Etincelles beat Mukura 1-0 in Huye, while newly promoted side La Jeunesse stunned hosts Muhanga to a 1-0. Musanze also produced a brilliant performance as they beat visiting side Amagaju 2-0 in Ruhengeri to secure their first victory of the season.

This afternoon, eleven-time champions head into the tie on the back of identical 1-0 victories over Mukura and Amagaju while Kiyovu will be hoping to earn their first victory of the season following a disappointing start.

APR will not field their newly signed players namely Johnson Bagoole, Karim Nizigiyimana, Joseph Bwalya and Kipson Atuheire because they have not secured their international transfer certificates.

Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side welcomes back Berch Bawuma and Jean Shyaka who have been nursing injuries.
