Editor, I’m not supporting the issue of the woman going down on their knees and proposing to a man. I support the arguments made in the Society Magazine debate by Ivan Mugisha, where he refers to this as being idle and disorderly. This is according to the article that was published on October 29, 2010 titled, ‘Is it okay for women to propose to men?’
Editor,
I’m not supporting the issue of the woman going down on their knees and proposing to a man. I support the arguments made in the Society Magazine debate by Ivan Mugisha, where he refers to this as being idle and disorderly. This is according to the article that was published on October 29, 2010 titled, ‘Is it okay for women to propose to men?’
He clearly showed that ethically this is supposed to be done by a man according to culture and religion that constitute our beliefs.
I support women emancipation but there are those roles that were meant to be for men since the genesis of this world. Asking someone’s hand in marriage is totally a man’s problem and it would look awkward for a woman to do so.
Let us value our culture and stop embracing the Western cultures as if ours are not good enough. It’s time that we appreciated and valued what is ours.
