THE battle for this year’s Carre d’AS title gets underway this morning at Amahoro’s indoor stadium.

According to the technical director of the local volleyball federation (FRVB) Christian Hategikimana, new league champions National University of Rwanda (UNR), APR, Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) and Gisenyi College will battle for the men’s crown while the women’s title challenge pits reigning champions APR against new league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), UNR and Ruhango.

"We have four clubs competing in both categories,” the official said. UNR are expected to challenge APR for the Carre d’AS title after edging the latter to this league title following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Gisenyi College.

Last year, APR beat KVC 3-2 in the men’s final while their counterparts ripped UNR apart 3-0.
Soras are the tournament sponsors.
