Some people think money can solve all problems but money is just an accessory to good life. All is not about money, so money should not make you its slave.

In our workplaces or jobs, many people fight with themselves over the chicken and egg question. I am doing so much but I earn so little. It’s all unfair.

Money first is earned for work done. In most businesses, for example, 80% of the work is done to bring in 20% of sales or money. After that stage, only 20% percent is needed to bring in 80% of the sales. In other words, hard work or smart work pays. If you want to be rich you must work towards it. During the effort, you might have to forego a lot of luxuries in order to achieve your goals.

If you decide to start enjoying the perceived wealth that you expect to get at the end of an effort then you are borrowing from a future that is not certain.

So is the work place. In most private companies, employees are known to complain so much that they work hard but earn little while the boss takes all the profits home. But one needs to sit down and ask themselves.

The best way of earning good salary is working hard so that your business owner can make money and regards you as an asset. If you start complaining about poor earnings when the business is not delivering good results, then you become liability.

You must learn that a reward is the result of a good effort. If you want to buy a drink to quench your thirst in a shop one hundred meters away, you must walk the one hundred meters first. The problem is the thirst; the reward is the drink and the effort in the walk. If you start complaining that the shop is too far before you even try to take the walk, you are trying to claim the prize for doing nothing.

If you insist that I must know how cold the drink is before you make the effort, then you are demanding a reward before taking the effort, therefore your reward will be fixed at a certain level but if you decide to make the effort to go for the drink without demanding to know if it is cold, then you might be surprised to learn that the drink actually comes with a bite for free.

Most of the time, especially if you are fresh from school, you have no right to put so many demands on a potential employer, because you basically unproven. If you do, they might take you on a fixed salary which might remain at that level because you insisted that you wanted that salary. But if you choose to prove yourself first, you might even earn yourself a promotion for being resourceful beyond what is needed in your first job.
