THE fixtures for this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup will be released tomorrow, according to the body’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.

Musonye also revealed that they will make a last-minute entry if Cameroon, one of the guest teams for this year’s edition fails to confirm their availability.

"The Cameroon football federation has not been forthcoming and we are now considering two teams from the Cosafa region,” the official noted.

"We have already received requests from Zambia and Malawi and we intend to pick one of them if Cameroon doesn’t confirm by the end of tomorrow,” the official noted.

Cameroon’s West African counterparts, Ivory Coast, have however confirmed participation in the 34th edition set to run from November 21 to December 5 in Dar es Salaam.
Amavubi Stars, who reached last year’s final, will regroup on November 15 before testing themselves against Malawi two days later in Blantyre.

Other countries in the fray include reigning champions Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Zanzibar and hosts Tanzania.

The Senior Challenge Cup is a successor tournament for the Gossage Cup, held 37 times from 1926 to 1964, and the East and Central African Senior Challenge Cup, held 7 times between 1965 to1971.

Uganda has won the regional title 11 times, followed by Kenya with five titles. Rwanda has won it once in 1999.
