Twenty one civil servants from the Workforce Development Authority (WDA), Kicukiro College of Technology and Tumba College of Technology have completed a six-week course in  Cisco applications.

The training was organised by WDA in partnership with Cisco Networking Academy. Addressing the trainees, the Deputy Director General of WDA, Fatina Mukarubibi urged them to pass on the skills and knowledge they had acquired to their respective communities.

She called on them to play a key role in the country’s aspirations of becoming an ICT hub saying it would enable the country to easily achieve sustainable development through ICT.

"The main objective of this workshop was to equip you with knowledge and skills in ICT, so I am sure you are now more competent to efficiently and effectively carryout your duties” Mukarubibi said.

Mukarubibi said that WDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CISCO in order to train employees in ICT who then go back and train others.  

"This training has been very useful to us because it strengthened our skills and knowledge in ICT and we shall always work as ambassadors of ICT,” said Philip Mudenge on behalf of the trainees.
