KCC continues with City facelift

KIGALI - Kigali City Council yesterday commenced the City Beautification Week campaign with the construction of a Rwf 30m, 100 meters retaining wall along Airport Road (Remera – Kanombe).

KIGALI - Kigali City Council yesterday commenced the City Beautification Week campaign with the construction of a Rwf 30m, 100 meters retaining wall along Airport Road (Remera – Kanombe).

According to the Mayor of Kigali City, Dr Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, the exercise is aimed at maintaining the general cleanliness of the city.

"We are proud to have officially launched this wonderful campaign, and I call upon every local leader and resident to participate during this period to achieve total cleanliness around our city” Kirabo said.

Speaking to The New Times, the General Manager of NPD CONTRACO, Jean Gatarayiha, called upon all the city’s stakeholders to take part in the exercise.

The Mayor later met hygiene stakeholders at Nyamirambo Stadium and called upon them to take the lead in improving the general cleanliness of the city.

She said that the week will see all schools, hospitals, churches, commercial centers and government institutions plant gardens and trees.

Kigali City Council (KCC) is set to spend Rwf1.5 billion on enhancing the city’s hygiene levels as well as beauty, according to the Mayor.
