The Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF–HOA), Rear Admiral Brian L. Losey, will today begin a three-day visit to Rwanda, the military and defence spokesman, Lt. Col. Jill Rutaremara, has announced.

According to Col. Rutaremara, while in Rwanda, Losey will meet with the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Charles Kayonga, with whom he will discuss civil – military affairs, the security situation in the region and Darfur issues, among others.

"He is also scheduled to visit Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre and the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako where he will view the Africa Contingency Operations Training and Assistance [ACOTA] Camp,” said Rutaremara.

Losey is accompanied by Command Sergeant Major [CSM] Scott C. Mykoo.

CJTF-HOA conducts operations in the East African region to build capacity in order to promote regional security and stability, prevent conflict, and protect US and coalition interests.

It became part of U.S. Africa Command in October 2008.
CJTF–HOA also provides personnel to the African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA) program as mentors.

The Headquarters of CJTF – HOA is at Camp Lemonnier, in Djibouti. Its vision is to build and strengthen partnerships to contribute to security and stability in East Africa.
Losey assumed command of CJTF-HOA during a change-of-command ceremony at Camp Lemonnier on March 27, 2010.

He relieved Rear Admiral Anthony M. Kurta, who led the command since February 2009.
