Over 120 elite cyclists are expected to grace the prestigious African Continental Cycling Championship that will take place in Kigali from November 9 -14.

This was confirmed yesterday by the President of the National Cycling federation Aimable Bayingana.
Twenty countries have already confirmed participation in the four-day competition and some of them include: Africa’s top cycling nations like South Africa, Morocco, Eriteria, Egypt, Libya, Gabon, and Bukina Faso among others.

According to Bayingana, local cyclists have done thorough preparations which should yield decent results.

"Team Rwanda has been training for the last eight weeks with national coach Jonathan Boyer and two other American trainers. So we are hopeful that the team can better the fourth position they got last year.”Bayingana said.

Meanwhile, the event, which will be graced by the President of the International Cycling Union Pat Mcquaid, will be aired on DSTV.

Rwanda’s charge will be led by South African based Adrien Niyonshuti who helped his team MTN Energrade to a podium finish at the just ended Cape Pioneer Trek.
