KIGALI - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, will this week appear before the Senatorial Foreign Affairs Commission where she will update the Senators on the current state of Rwanda’s diplomatic relations with other African countries.

The Clerk of the Senatorial Committee, Constantin Rwigyema, told The New Times yesterday that Mushikiwabo would update the committee on the current diplomatic relations with regard to diplomacy and integration.

"The minister is also expected to enlighten committee members on the benefits obtained from the organisations and bodies it belongs to at regional and continental level,” Rwigyema said.

"The Senators will be interested to know what the ministry is doing in providing Rwandans in the Diaspora accurate information on what is actually happening on the ground instead of letting them rely on inaccurate information from the internet”.

This is the second time Mushikiwabo is appearing before the upper chamber of parliament to update Senators on diplomatic relations. In July, she briefed them on the state of diplomatic relations between the nation and the rest of the world.

She informed the Senators of the government’s decision to open embassies in West Africa and Asia, a plan that, she said, was derived from the government’s desire to cultivate relations with many countries from all corners of the world.
