Kirehe district has completed the construction of an administrative block worth Rwf250 million. The building is an extension of the already existing offices.

The construction was funded by Kirehe Community-Based Watershed Management Project (KWAMPU), in conjunction with the district.

Talking to The New Times, yesterday, Mayor Protais Murayira said that with the extra office space, the district will not only get a facelift but will also improve on service delivery.

The Mayor revealed that the district had embarked on a significant modern infrastructure development.

"You can see how beautiful the building is. We are also preparing a very good flower garden to beautify the place. We shall more importantly get enough space for land related documents,” he said.

He added that ever since the town had obtained electricity, banks and other institutions had brought their services closer to the people.

Benson Muhikira, the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, reiterated the importance of the new district block, and the general infrastructure development of the district.

"People can now buy fuel at Nyakarambi fuel station, feeder roads are accessible and above all they can now meet their leader in a favourable environment,” he quipped.

Jean Claude Murindahabi, 47, a businessman in Nyakarambi, said that the new district offices portray a town that is generally progressing.

"I am optimistic that the trend of events will boost trade for the good of all of us in Kirehe district,” he said.
