ULK’s raising of entry points is in good faith

With sadness, I read in The New Times dated 29th January 2008 that Kigali Independent University [ULK]-Gisenyi campus will not admit students with less than two points. Later on, I realised that it was all done in good faith and for the good of our country.

With sadness, I read in The New Times dated 29th January 2008 that Kigali Independent University [ULK]-Gisenyi campus will not admit students with less than two points. Later on, I realised that it was all done in good faith and for the good of our country.

The main goal of any University should be to provide students with a good education based on scientific, intellectual, moral and professional values in order to produce true development actors, who are equipped not only with scientific knowledge but also with solid values of justice, integrity and patriotism.

That is why it is necessary to do every thing possible to produce competitive graduates. The fundamental mission of education is to provide students with quality education which will enable them to become actors and organizers in the development process of our nation.

Emphasis should be put on education that is relevant to the country’s needs including professional courses. The ball is therefore in the hands of students to work hard to acquire the required points to advance their academic careers.
