The embattled leader of the yet-to-be-registered political party, FDU-Inkingi, Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza will today be presented in Gasabo Intermediate Court to answer charges related to subversion.

Ingabire who was arrested one and a half weeks ago will face charges related to planning to cause state insecurity and forming a terrorist organisation.

Ingabire, who has been undergoing questioning by the prosecution, was arrested after she was allegedly implicated by Major Vital Uwumuremyi, a former commander in the Forces for the Democratic Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) intercepted while trying to sneak into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to the Spokesperson of the Prosecution, Augustin Nkusi, the Prosecution has enough evidence against Ingabire who together with Uwumuremyi are alleged to have formed a terrorist organization Known as Coalition of Democratic forces (CDF), a military wing of the FDU-Inkingi.

"Prosecution has gathered enough evidence that implicates Ingabire in engaging in activities that are aimed at destabilising peace, using a terrorist organisation,”
"She wanted to destabilise state security using some elements in the country and together with FDLR. She was training people to conduct terrorist activities inside the country. The case is already shaped and the evidence is ready to be presented in court,” Nkusi said.

On October 13, Police arrested Maj. Uwumuremyi, a former commander in the FDLR at the DRC border of La Cornice as he tried to sneak into the DRC where he was suspected to be conducting CDF activities.

The two will be charged with, among other things, buying and distributing arms and ammunitions to the terrorist organization; and threatening national security and public order.

According to Police, Ingabire was arrested after investigations revealed that the charges against Major Uwumuremyi implicate her. The two have since been detained at Kicukiro Police Station.

Uwumuremyi was found with a fake Congolese document with the names of Muhindo Muhima Dieudonné Katumba Pepe Pipiyu trying to sneak back into DRC.

When interrogated, Uwumuremyi gave details of his plans to form a new rebel group and named Ingabire as one of the accomplices.

Ingabire is still battling against charges of association with a terrorist group, propagating the Genocide Ideology, Revisionism and Ethnic Division. She had since been released on bail.

Ingabire earlier this year was charged with two other senior FDLR officers for planning activities aimed at causing state insecurity.

Lt. Col Tharcisse Nditurende and Lt. Col Noel Habiyaremye, who were senior commanders of the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda), admitted to having worked with Ingabire and Paul Rusesabagina to form a separate rebel group that would launch an offensive in Rwanda.
