When it comes to shoes do we really need fashionistas to lead the way for us? That’s the question many people ask themselves.

No, we are not talking about celebrities, we are talking about footwear. Ok, so it’s not a new look we have been wearing heels for ages, after all.

Recent reports have suggested that wearing high heels strengthens a woman’s pelvic muscles, which in turn improves her sex life. Besides all that, stiletto-heeled shoes look totally elegant, add glamour to any outfit, and make you look slimmer and taller too.

Do you ever wonder how some people manage to find all the best heels, while your closet seems to be packed with flats? It does not take a lot of money, or require you to hire a stylist to guide you on the right selections. Actually, you can have the best heels, no matter how small your budget is.

However, here are few basics you need to be armed with before buying the footwear.

Colours

You may have a shoe rack full of expensive designer heels in one colour, but having them in different colours costs nothing.

If you are not comfortable in bright colours, don’t wear them. But just because you hate red, doesn’t mean you are condemned to black only.

Scrutinize your personality, lifestyle and wardrobe; look for shoes in colours that match well with the three criterions. For example, if you love black, take a chance and try a pair of brown heels.

Do you have a lot of black suits? Red, cream and white all look great with that colour. Adding colourful shoes is one of the best ways to make over an outfit.

Think elegant and updated, and look for styles that will not make you look odd.

While certain events and outfits are perfectly suited to shoes that are overstated, for normal days keep a low key.
It seems that most women think that shoes fall into only two categories: open and closed flats -- or in more extreme cases, trainer shoes. But there are plenty of shoes out there that don’t fall between only those two styles.

Wedge heels and low sandals are just a few of the options available for women, who do not want to wear high-heels, but don’t want to spend the rest of their lives in low sandals and flats.

Another huge factor that is often overlooked by women when buying shoes is trend. You do not have to consider it. Well, it’s acceptable to look at the newest trends, but it’s far better to create your own style, than to be enslaved by "what’s the latest” obsession.

Every woman knows how bothers standing in front of a packed shoe rack without having any slight idea of what to wear.

However, the best thing to do in this situation is to go for the basics. Pick a pair that complements your outfit.
