The National football league has been put on hold ahead of Amavubi stars’ upcoming international friendly with Tanzania on February 6.

The break is supposed to give Amavubi stars ample time to prepare for this friendly that will be held in Dar es Salaam.

Jules Kalisa, the Chief Executive Officer of the local football governing body says that the league will resume on February 9, three days after the friendly.

Meanwhile, Atraco found their way back at the top of the league table following Sunday’s 2-1 win over Mukura. Peter Kagabo and Abedi Mulenda scored for the taxi-men’s club while Felix Muvunyi scored Mukura’s consolation. The previous day, SC Kiyovu had dropped their first points in this year’s league campaign after losing 2-3 against arch-rivals Rayon Sport.

The defeat ended their six-game winning streak.

Despite taking a comfortable two-goal lead through Jean Claude Bigirimana and Games Uwimana, Kiyovu squandered their lead when Roger Tuyisenge and Bonaventure Hategikimana put the blues level before Bokota Labama scored the winner, two minutes into stoppage time. Rayon moved into fourth place with 13 points, five adrift of Atraco and Kiyovu.

Else where, Aloua Gaseruka scored to earn reigning champions a 1-0 win over Etincelles. APR have 17 points.

AS Kigali humbled Electrogaz 3-1, Police was held to a one-all draw by Marine while league debutants Military earned their first victory after a thrilling 3-2 win over Kibuye.
