THE 2010-11 second division league has been penciled to start early next month Ostine Arinaitwe reports.
Twenty clubs are in contention this year with Rwamagana, Kirehe and Kicuriko all making debuts.

As has been the norm, teams will be divided into two groups of ten. At the end of the regular season, the top two sides in each group will proceed to the play-offs. The finalists will then qualify to the top flight (Primus league).
With the top flight already covered as far as sponsorship is concerned, Ferwafa has now switched its focus to the second division.

"We are still lobbying for sponsorship for this league and we hope to get a positive headway soon,” Ferwafa’s CEO Jules Kalisa said.

Last season, Bralirwa splashed Rwf8million  into the second division as part of a mega Rwf335million sponsorship deal between Ferwafa and the brewing company.

After a close race, Muhanga and La Jeunesse earned a promotion to the Primus league. Muhanga also claimed the second division crown after edging La Jeunesse on penalties (4-3).

However, following Atraco and Electrogaz’s withdrawal from the top flight, Musanze and Marines survived the drop.
