The battle for regional musical supremacy in the fourth season of Tusker Project Fame got underway this week as the fifteen contestants had their first live nomination show.
After the shock decision to eliminate one contestant without probation, the faculty, have thrown the first gauntlet to the star studded contestants among whom a litany of musical talent and interesting individual personas have began to show through.

For Thomas Madooba Kirya and his fans from old Ugandan industrial town of Jinja, Sunday night was one to forget as they saw one of their own kiss the academy goodbye due to lack of co-operation and inability to work with the Faculty.

Peter Msechu a.k.a "Bonge”, who loves to make people happy, is first becoming the comedian in the house who in his own words ‘has never sung an English song.’

The first non-official old boy of the academy Davis Hillary Ntare, a multi-talented guitar player from Uganda who was sent packing on the first day of season three and just made though the auditions in Nairobi after missing the Kampala auditions will hope that this is second time lucky.

The contingent from southern Sudan will make a surprisingly strong showing with Twenty four year old Kuonck Deng, the new kid from Juba earning a rapturous response for his easy rap style.  The musician cum freelance journalist hopes of clinching a recording deal at least out of the exposure from the show if he fails to win already looks like a reality in the making.

The star of the new Sudan however will no doubt be Lady Paleki Matthew Obur, the buoyant dark skinned gregarious Upper Nile state girl who has already sent warning shots with her exceptional vocal abilities.

Gaelle Atete, a Rwandan Law student will hope to slowly wow the fans with her warm personality away from trouble but not as first as Deng who professed his love for the shocked Gaelle after a record three days of meeting.

Clearly, the freestyle rap king has set his eyes on more than just a recording deal! 21 year old Computer Science student Gilbert Gabiro the other warm, cheerful soul from the land of a thousand hills is also in the firing lien this Saturday.

Rwanda’s Elizabeth Gaga may have escaped probation but from the look of things, not the cross wires of the suave Davis, to the chagrin of one Peter, setting the stage for a love triangle in the making.

Like last year, the Ugandan contingent remained unscathed in the first week but also Tanzanians kept away from trouble while two Kenyans went to probation.

Now, all you need to do now is send, send and send Tusker 15 for Gabiro and Tusker 1 for Gaelle to 7197 to avoid their premature departure from the show and put a repeat of an Alpha victory on the cards.
