BEATRICE Mahoro emerged as the best blocker at the just ended Women’s Junior African Nations Championship in Tunis, Tunisia.
Even after Rwanda’s sloppy display were she won only one of her four games, the Rwanda Revenue Authority libero swayed over the officials’ votes with her impenetrable blocks.
Rwanda beat Ivory Coast but then lost against Algeria, Egypt and hosts Tunisia. It is said that Rwanda’s major undoing was their weak reception.
Egypt beat Tunisia 3-0 on the final day to win the volleyball tournament. Egypt together with runners up Tunisia will now represent Africa at next year’s FIVB World Women Junior championships in Lima, Peru.
