Editor, I read yesterday’s publication online about the good work that the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) team is doing for our children in Rwanda. I write with great appreciation as I see Rwandan children being part of the computer literate population of this country. When the initiative was launched in 2008, it seemed like a sophisticated project for most parents but when our children are able to manipulate this green and white gadget, even better than us, it makes us proud of them as we appreciate the skills they have learnt.

I write with great appreciation as I see Rwandan children being part of the computer literate population of this country. When the initiative was launched in 2008, it seemed like a sophisticated project for most parents but when our children are able to manipulate this green and white gadget, even better than us, it makes us proud of them as we appreciate the skills they have learnt.
Interactive education is one of the best approaches to developing young minds. Already 10,000 computers have been distributed in 23 schools. The process is continuing with a target of distributing 50, 000 laptops to 150 schools in all districts countrywide by the end of this year.
With such strides in ICT, Rwanda will soon become Central and East Africa’s ICT hub.
