TIG boss petitions PM over Ombudsman’s directive

KIGALI - The Executive Secretary of Travaux d’Interêts Générale (TIG), Evariste Bizimana, has petitioned the Prime Minister’s Office over the Ombudsman’s directive to reinstate several employees who were dismissed from the institution.

KIGALI - The Executive Secretary of Travaux d’Interêts Générale (TIG), Evariste Bizimana, has petitioned the Prime Minister’s Office over the Ombudsman’s directive to reinstate several employees who were dismissed from the institution.

Without revealing the details of the petition, Vincent Ryamugema, the Director of Cabinet in the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the development.

"We have received the petition but we are still scrutinizing it and thereafter we shall communicate our decision,” Ryamugema said.

Former TIG employees who had been dismissed petitioned   the Ombudsman’s Office accusing their former boss of various charges including unfair dismissal.

The Ombudsman then ordered the TIG boss to reinstate the employees.Earlier on, Bizimana had told the press that he would consult the law before reinstating the former employees.

The Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara, told The New Times that Bizimana has the right to petition.
