NYAGATARE - A man in Cyabayaga, in Nyagatare district, drowned in Cyabayaga man-made lake while trying to retrieve a bicycle which had sank in the water, on Monday.
According to residents, the deceased, Karera Gaturajoro, had been hired by another person whose bicycle had sank in the lake.

The lake was constructed by a Chinese company for rice irrigation in Cyabayaga rice scheme. "People had flocked the lake to fish when one of the residents’ bicycle sank. People started asking for money to retrieve the bicycle until Gaturajoro agreed to do it for Rw5000,” a resident narrated.
