This has become more like a stress free thing for many of our readers. They write to us telling us things that are nagging many in our society and we talk about them. This week, we shall talk about conductors.

Now if you do use public commuter taxis, you are going to understand what I mean. Recently I was traveling from Kabuga to Kigali in a twegerane literally meaning let’s squeeze ourselves and I had a moment that I will never forget. 

The conductor had a dirty shirt and he smelled of cigarettes making me regret why I had entered the taxi. The journey became unbearable because we were squeezed like sweet potatoes and the conductor was seated next to me with his armpits over my head.

This takes me to the issue of cleanness. Rwanda is the cleanest country in the region and everything seems to be well organized apart from these conductors of twegerane. 

I kindly ask ATRACO and other stakeholders to look into this matter and try to find a solution to this problem. The conductors must be well dressed and groomed since this is also a profession like others where customer satisfaction is a must.
