LEODEGAR Tenga is expected to challenge Celestin Musabyimana in next year’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections in Cairo, Egypt.

The Tanzania football federation (TFF) president, who also doubles as Cecafa boss, has expressed his desire to run for the post of CAF media committee chairman, which is currently occupied by Musabyimana, a former vice president of Ferwafa. 

Musabyimana has held the position since 2006 and believes he has enough ground and support to oust Tenga.

"I’m definitely re-contesting for this position and I have no doubt that I will succeed,” he confidently told Times Sport.
According to officials from TFF, Tenga’s candidacy is being pushed by Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete.

During Musabyimana’s reign, Rwanda has hosted the U-20 Africa Youth Championship (20090 and is also set to host the next year’s U-17 African championships.

Meanwhile, Danny Jordan, the brain behind the successful FIFA 2010 World Cup is also reportedly being ear-marked to contest for CAF presidency.

South Africa’s Football Association believes the well respected and vastly experienced South African football administrator has all the qualities to steer the continent forward.

Jordan is aware that challenging Hayatou who has been at the helm since 1987 will be no easy task. Hayatou took the reigns following the retirement of Ydnekatchew Tessema of Ethiopia.
