AMAVUBI head coach Sellas Tetteh is expected to ring changes in the team which will compete in next month’s Senior Challenge Cup tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Tetteh, who is under pressure to deliver positive results after a wobbly start in Rwanda’s 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifying campaign, yesterday revealed that he would draft in new players.
"You will see some new faces in the team. This is all aimed at getting the best out of the team,” the Ghanaian said.
"We have not a forgettable start in the Nation’s Cup qualifying campaign but the team will recover,” said Tetteh.
Pressure is mounting on the 52-year-old.
Despite guiding the team to next year’s CHAN, the magic that saw him lead Ghana to their historic 2009 U-20 World Championship win is yet to work for him in these qualifiers.
The team has succumbed to 3-0 defeats in their opening qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Benin. While the Ivory Coast defeat was not so much of a shock, the Benin loss left sour taste on many fans.
These defeats mean that there is no more room for error in Group H which also has Burundi.
Ivory Coast is on top with six points, while the win against Rwanda pushed Benin into second place with four points. Burundi is third with a point while Rwanda still languishes at the bottom with zero points.
The 2012 Nations Cup will be jointly hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
