As much as we admire celebrities and often endeavour to get fashion inspirations from them, we should be cautious because some of them commit fashion crimes.

This Sunday our focus is on neckwear. We shall slightly emphasize on it, because a study has shown that almost half of men wear neckties wrongly.

Small but terrible – that is how I like to describe the men’s neck-ties. That is because as far as fashion is concerned, neck ties can make or break an outfit when going for formal wear.

Neckties can be very expensive, especially if you want to have the ones with the best quality and looks. For these reasons, they should always be given proper care because they can also get the most wear and tear among all the items in your closet.

Colours

Often, men prefer white because it is thought to be the easiest to match and easily create formal appearance.
There is an aspect that needs to be considered when choosing the colour; for example, white shirts still stand as the most formal followed by blue, pink, yellow, green and orange.

However, these are just trendy choices and may not be able to withstand the changing fashion trends.
A wide choice of men’s collections provides a nice play of combination in their wardrobe.

The right necktie

The idea of choosing the right necktie for men is an easy task if one already knows what suits him. One of these features is the length of the tie.

The perfect length is said to be one that reaches somewhere around the waist. Also, the length factor depends upon the way a tie is tied.

Apart from the length of men’s ties, their combination too, plays a major role in projecting the personality of a man. It should not be ignored that a good dressing sense starts right from the aspect of how a tie is worn.

An ideal coordination that is accepted officially is a dark tie that is worn on single coloured shirt. Alternatively, different combinations could also be allowed considering the patterns existing on the tie. A necktie with stripes or fine lines, for example, will match well with a shirt that has check prints.

Range and occasion

Neckties are available in different colours and combinations that cater for all personalities.

Some of today’s youth, boys and girls, use neckties for their fashion gains, while professional men are advised to use plain neckties without any designs or patterns.

A rule of thumb is that the colour of the necktie should either match or complement the colour of the shirt.
