APR face probably their biggest test so far this season in Saturday’s trip to Muhanga where they take on rivals Kiyovu.

The pair rekindle their old rivalry tied on 31 points, just two points shy of table leaders AS Kigali and a win from either side would propel them to the top of the table and keep their 2022/23 Rwanda Premier League title hopes alive.

Neither side can afford to lose, with the likes of AS Kigali and second-placed Rayon Sports FC, waiting in their wings to take advantage of any slips if they manage to beat Rwamagana City and Mukura Victory Sports respectively.

It is a huge test for both teams in terms of their title ambitions in a season that has proved to be the most competitive in years.

For years, Kiyovu has proved to be APR's bogey side and Saturday's game shouldn't be any different from what has happened in the past.

In the last 12 league meetings, APR recorded five victories against SC Kiyovu’s two as five games ended in draw. Seventeen goals were scored in a process, APR scored 12 times while the Mumena-based side found the back of the net five times.

Kiyovu emerged as serious league title contenders during the last two seasons but could unfortunately suffer some infamous slips that were too hard for supporters to digest. The club believes this season could be a decisive one as they bid to clinch their first league title since 1993.

Elsewhere, Mukura host Rayon Sports at Huye Stadium, Musanze faces Rutsiro at Ubworoherane Stadium and AS Kigali visit Rwamagana City while Sunrise take on Bugesera at Nyagatare Stadium.
