FLAVIEN Ndamukunda and Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma hope to retain their throne as East African beach volleyball kings in the two-day Kenya International Beach Volleyball Championship that kicks off this morning in Mombassa.
Last year, the pair stunned the Mombassa crowd by lifting the men’s crown and a juicy Rwf 370.000 cash package.
The pair recently lost out to Trevor Ntwari and Germain Munani of Burundi in the MTN Beach volleyball tourney but the technical director of the local volleyball federation Christian Hatumimana is unfazed by that particular defeat.
"They were unfortunate to lose to the Burundians but they make a very good team and I have no doubt that they will win in Mombassa,” the official said.
Fidele Mutesa and Pierre Marshal Kwizera are the other Rwandan representatives in the competition.
