Foreign affairs minister Dr Charles Murigande yesterday told The New Times that Bush’s visit to Rwanda had been announced by the White House. “Yes, his visit to Rwanda was announced by the White House,” Murigande said on phone. Bush’s trip to Africa begins on the 15 and ends on February 21.

The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Rwanda on how to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
The discussions are expected to centre on economic and democratic reforms, respect for human rights, free trade, open investment regimes, among others on the African continent.
President Bush will be the second sitting U.S President to come to Rwanda after former President Bill Clinton. US is one of Rwanda’s large development partners. Meanwhile, Kigali is to host U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Monday.
French Foreign Affairs chief Bernard Kouchner also visited over the weekend in a bid to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Federal President of German Horst Köhler is also expected to be in Rwanda early February.
Last week, a delegation led by Belgian Minister for International Development Cooperation was in Kigali along with senior parliamentarians.
