RWANDA’s junior female volleyball team is in Tunisia’s capital, Tunis to contest for Africa Junior Nations Championship title.
The youngsters, who camped in Nairobi for a week, are eager to eclipse their male counterparts display in Libya.
The boys settled for fourth place in the Africa junior boys’ championship after losing to Morocco in the semi-final.
In Tunis, Paul Bitok’s team will clash with Ivory Coast, Egypt and hosts Tunisia.
While in Kenya, the team played trial matches against national champions KCB and Blue Triangle and the captain Regine Izabayo is optimistic about Rwanda’s chances.
"The boys did well in Libya and we want to achieve the same or even surpass it.”
"We have trained so hard over the past few weeks and I believe we have what it takes to reach our target,” Izabayo said.
The winner of the tournament will represent Africa at next year’s World Junior Women Championship in Trinidad & Tobago.
