KIGALI -The former President of Ghana, John Kufuor is expected in the country on Thursday on the invitation of the Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace (IRDP), a local research think-tank that promotes unity.
KIGALI -The former President of Ghana, John Kufuor is expected in the country on Thursday on the invitation of the Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace (IRDP), a local research think-tank that promotes unity.
While in the country, he will attend a conference organized by the institute. And also visit the Genocide Memorial Centre in Gisozi, among other places.
This was confirmed yesterday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Louise Mushikiwabo.
IRDP conducts research on issues ranging from the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, unity, understanding democracy and the rule of law. Its findings and recommendations are normally handed over to the government and members of the civil society.
President Kufuor is the Chairman of the Interpeace Governing Council, an international peace building organization.
He the first chairman from the southern hemisphere of the Interpeace Governing Council which operates in Africa, Asia, Central America, Europe and the Middle East.
