Last Sunday we talked about women and their underwear and now it’s our brothers’ turn.

Fashion does not only mean the latest celebrity jeans or denim blazers. Looking great and trendy begins with underwear, the basis of every man’s everyday dress routine.

So we wonder why underwear shopping falls last on most men’s shopping lists. It is important you soon realize that undergarments are equally worthy to spend on.

Replace old with new ones

It may seem as far fetched as fairies, but we have heard claims tossed around that two years is the average period of time it takes for men to replace their old underwear with new ones.

Whether or not that’s true (we hope it’s not, honestly ), no matter how long it takes you to replace assortments, once a pair has seen better days – throw it away.

Did it cost you too much or is it your favourite pair and that’s why you want to use it forever? Maybe, but wear and tear with underwear is dangerous and embarrassing.

Men should have at least 10 pairs of underwear on hand at all times. Have two pairs for the week, plus an additional pair for a special day or some sort of emergency---you never know.

Variety is the reality in life, except, perhaps when it comes to men’s underwear. It can be difficult to find a brand that fits just right; one that holds the goods in place without being too tight or too loose. But once you happen to land upon the right type, it’s a good idea to stock up.

Play around with different colours and styles. But your best bet is to always stay loyal to a single type that you know works for you.

Briefs provide the right support for almost every situation from work to home. But sometimes you just need to let things free at home with just a looser-fitting boxer.

Wash after use

Did you know that dirty underwear can cause serious health problems?

Fortunately, the answer to keeping clean is not use and throw. Undies should be washed after each use. Looking better does not always mean spending a lot of time or money.

Variety to choose from

Men should not be restricted to boxers and briefs; there are plenty of options out there. The thongs, briefs, jocks, swimwear, you name it!

"I started wearing boxers around 10 years ago. I wear them for work. On the weekend I wear briefs or nothing,” Peter Kalisa said.

He added that: "It’s so much more comfortable. I would suggest that everyone at least try it. It really feels great.”

Why should the ladies have all the fun with the giving of wayward lingerie? If there is chance why deny your female friends the fun of putting on something naughty, too?
