NYAGATARE - Bralirwa SA on Thursday launched a conservation campaign at Rwisirabo Secondary School in Karangazi sector, Nyagatare District, with the planting of 50,000 trees.

Bralirwa officials, students and staff of the school planted trees around the school.
Since 2007, Bralirwa has been supporting planting of trees in schools through ‘Companie

Agricole Environment’ a company charged with environmental protection in the district of Kicukiro in Kigali City; Bugesera and Nyagatare in Eastern Province.
Freddy Nyangezi, Bralirwa’s head of Corporate Affairs, said the exercise is in line with the company’s policy of supporting the government,s environmental drives.

"Bralirwa has gone beyond business to participate in government programmes like environmental protection. We are planting trees in 15 schools in Nyagatare District because it’s prone to dry seasons,” he said.

He urged students to give tender care to the trees, noting that a good student protects the environment.

The school’s head teacher, Robert Gasana, said it’s time the world balanced its rapid pace of technological advancement and environmental conservation.

Frank Mugisha, a senior one student and a member of environmental protection club at the school, told The New Times, that he has been equipped with environmental protection skills and is ready to disseminate it to other neighbouring schools.
