Gisaka Volleyball Open to take place in Kirehe district

Kirehe district, through their signature volleyball club - Kirehe VC, will organise the second edition of the Gisaka Open Volleyball Tournament.
The tournament is a product of a partnership between Kirehe district and the local volleyball governing body – FRVB.
It is scheduled to take place from August 20-21 in Kirehe, with teams competing in both the men's and women's category.
The first edition took place in 2019, and UTB were crowned the champions in both the men's and women's category.
According to Lambert Muhawenimana, the Secretary General of Kirehe Volleyball Club, the event will be played every year, attracting league and non-league teams.
APR, Gisagara, Rwanda Energy Group (REG), IPRC- Ngoma, IPRC- Musanze, Kirehe and UR Huye are the teams that will compete in the men's category, while in the women's Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), IPRC-Huye, Ruhango and APR will participate.
Muhawenimana noted that the registration process is still ongoing until today, August 19 evening.
"The tournament is our contribution in the development of volleyball in Rwanda. We want to make it an annual event, and we are confident it will be a high level competition," he added.
