THE Confederation of East and Central Africa (Cecafa) has invited West African giants Ivory Coast and Cameroon to grace this year’s Senior Challenge Cup to be held in Dar es Salaam, from November 27 to December 11.

The body’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye yesterday said that Ivory Coast has promised to field a team full of local-based players while Cameroon will confirm their position in a week’s time.

Serengeti Breweries, through their Tusker brand, on Thursday announced a $450,000 (Sh36 million) sponsorship package for the tournament that has also enticed Zambia.
"We have secured massive sponsorship from Serengeti and now believe the event will be a huge success,” Musonye said.

The sponsorship gives Tusker title rights to the tournament, as well as all commercial and branding rights for the duration of the competition.
Uganda is the defending champions after beating Rwanda in last year’s final.

Other countries in the contest include Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti.
