Plot: At 12 years of age, the last thing a kid wants is to relocate from his familiar neighbourhood to a country where he doesn’t even understand the language. When Dre’s mother gets a job in China, Dre (Jaden Smith) is not as thrilled as she is and he does nothing to hide the fact that he resents moving to china.
The language barrier is the least of his worries as he lands right in the middle of a local gang’s business; he falls for the girl of a local kid. In a country where "everyone knows kungfu”, Dre needs to learn to survive. So begins Dre’s journey in the life of martial arts, in the most unexpected way.
Verdict: the movie might not be as powerful as the 1984 edition, but this version is pretty satisfying and makes for a good Jackie Chan watch.
