The 31year old partly grew up in Nairobi, however moved to Uganda where he attended Nakasero Primary School before joining Mengo Senior Secondary School for O’ Level.
"I attended A’ Level at Rwanda International Academy thereafter joined the business World. I joined the music circles and organizing events in 1998 as small group known as the ‘Teens United ‘ surprisingly it started as a joke but later enhanced on staging show in Schools ,”Genza narrates.
In 1999 he joined the movie industry and attained a principle role in ‘100 DAYS’ and worked with Link Media by making commercials and advertisements.
"In 2000 I joined MTN and worked in the customer care department for two years. I later opted for self employment and felt it would be better to concentrate on what I believe in and that music hence I started an events company that will provide the professional services,” Genza stresses
"As a company that aimed at promoting Artists, in 2003 we started funding the group known as ‘Hot site’ that comprised of students and we helped them in producing their music and staging shows.
In 2004 we staged two shows at Kigali Serena and French Cultural center wereby we brought in the ‘Obsessions’ from Uganda and from that time on we have not looked back,” Genza explains
With the growing trend of the entertainment aspect in Rwanda, Genza elaborates on how the company has been able to survive and maintain the standards.
"Mainly over the last seven years we have been promoting local artists, supporting them and giving them a platform to show case their talent and through that we work with partners such as MTN, BRALIRWA while promoting their products,” Genza explains
"We started inviting regional artists as away to affiliate with the steps we have taken in development and in July 2005 we staged the first ever regional event in Rwanda and dabbed the event ‘Intambwe’ meaning making a step forward it was at Amahoro stadium and a conference of the same theme at Kigali Serena Hotel thus from that point on we didn’t look back.
We started off known as 4 Real Promotions Company before re-brading in 2009 to Show Time Events we were engaging in many other fields such as theater and fashion ,” He narrates.
Regarding the issue of payments of artists whether local or International before performing has cost most promoters money and distrust of their clients since at times it raises a lot of chaos hence they end up not performing. Genza explains on how he handles the payment bit.
"It’s a challenge but we have always paid visiting artists before they even come down here to perform while the local artists are paid on upfront for preparations to facilitate them and pay the balance like after the event fortunately is that the artist have been working with us for quite sometime and the strong working relationship with no disappointments thus that why we have been able to pull off the massive shows over the years,” he stressed
Just like in any kind of business, the entertainment dealings are driven by challenges though the progress is highly witnessed.
"There are several challenges but the need for venues to stage shows outstands , however others include sponsorship though that is changing with time since way back their was a problem of monopoly. With the introduction of more companies we are able to have variety of sponsors for the show since they also aim at promoting their products. The sound issue and the police policy has also hindered our work since a concert can’t run beyond midnight,” Genza clarifies
With all the success Genza has been able to pull off he is not yet married however, his ideal woman should be down to earth and with respect for cultural traits.
