The trio, who have straddled the East African arts and entertainment scene for years, are divergent in opinions and taste but have one common attribute; their experience, passion and knack for music.
According to Tusker Regional Marketing manager, Mburu Karanja, the three judges were chosen because of their extensive experience in the music industry and because all three bring something different to the panel of judges.
While Ian is a no holds barred straight talking personality Hermes describes himself as a cool guy and Juliana is known for her captivating stage presence.
Juliana and Hermes will be judging at the academy for the second time but this will be the fourth stint for Ian who, as a judge during the past TPF seasons, earned himself both allies and foes for his blunt comments.
Though in different words, the trio described the talent oozing from the contestants as unbelievable and the determination, ambition and zeal of the budding musicians as ‘the recipe for a thrilling nine weeks of fame, drama and music.’
The three will get a first-hand feel of the contestants during the top 25 audition show on Saturday 9 October, where they will identify the final 18 contestants from a talented pool with representatives from five countries.
At the academy, the judges will single out the contestants that are up for elimination. Viewers will then determine who stays in the house by voting to save their favourite contestants from elimination.
For viewers the D-day will be during the opening gala show on October 10 when the contestants enter the academy for 9 weeks of rigorous training, riveting action, and a chance to emerge as Eastern Africa’s next superstar.
The gala will be shown live on Citizen TV and shot in front of a live audience when three other contestants will be eliminated from the show. Only 15 contestants will enter the academy.
Viewers will get a chance to save their favourite contestant by voting through SMS. Elimination shows are scheduled to start on 23 October 2010.
