I’m sure you and I sometimes wonder how much has changed from back in the 50’s till today! Well, if you haven’t, I have. Let’s take a quick look down memory lane and face some facts about this breathtaking revolution.

Back in the day, I strongly agree that music was truly music in the real sense and value of the word... today I honestly think there is sincerely a decline of two things in many aspects of what we call music; in sense, in the art itself and in richness.
Music is traditionally one channel of communication that is influential to everyone regardless of age, sex, religious denomination, etc… originally its main aim was to pass some message to the public and to display serious vocal talent (and I mean serious vocal talent!) unfortunately, today it seems as if some people tend to forget that they will be on air for the whole world to hear.
Back then, music had meaning… it spoke and made one listen whether they wanted or not. The musician actually connected with his/her fans as they sang, or played that instrument, etc.
From their hearts. As years go by, the words in many music pieces simply come from the mouth. Take songs like; "changes” by ‘Tupac for the hip-hop fans, or "heal the world” by Michael J, or even "coward of the county” or for the country music fans like my family and I, or "mama” by boys II men, or even "red red wine” by ub40, "each tear” – Mary J Blidge, the list could go on. Now that IS music that made a difference in the world! Music to be remembered… music that doesn’t die. Ever wonder why the old time music is still largely enjoyed? I bet.
These days, even catching the lyrics to some songs is like an examination! Let alone understanding its message. Not forgetting the fact that the vocal talent I talked about is becoming less less and less noticeable.
In short, every Tom, Dick, Harry, Jane and Mary, because they were recently flattered about having the most beautiful voice, will wake up in the morning, find the nearest studio and the next morning… they claim to be the artist of the century! Some simply can’t tell the difference between talking and singing, but hopefully, one day they will.
Please, for those of us who still care… can we please have some real music? It’s a gift, it’s something to value… it’s not worth losing to ‘modernity’.
