Police officers train in PR skills

KIGALI - Twenty Police officers yesterday began a two-day workshop aimed at improving their public relations.This was revealed by Supt Eric Kayiranga, the Spokesperson Rwanda National Police (RNP).

KIGALI - Twenty Police officers yesterday began a two-day workshop aimed at improving their public relations.
This was revealed by Supt Eric Kayiranga, the Spokesperson Rwanda National Police (RNP).

"As partners in the media domain, the RNP recognizes the global news environment, so we seek to build a strong team of public relations professionals to ensure effective representation of our institution in the media and the court of public opinion,”, said Kairanga.

He added that the workshop will enable participants to come up with a much more active public relations department.

"The main objective of this seminar is to clearly understand the public relations concepts and approaches, the strategic roles and functions of a public relations officer”.

Kayiranga added that the training will help them learn how to write press releases and how to deal with crisis management and the concept of rapid response mechanisms.

He further revealed that the seminar will help them come up with resolutions which will help them to enhance their professional ways of doing business in their respective capacities.

The workshop is also expected to enable participants to identify some of the gaps and loopholes which need to filled in their respective departments.

The workshop was organized by the Rwanda National Police in partnership with the Association of Public Relations Officers.
