Rayon Sports head coach Francis Haringingo has expressed his delight after his highflying side returned to the league action in blistering form during their 4-1 victory over Musanze on Tuesday at Muhanga Stadium.
The Burundian has been under intense pressure from his employers and supporters after losing three consecutive matches before the end of the first round of the league but Tuesday’s victory boosted the team’s hopes of winning the title.
Isaac Mitima, Eric Ngendahimana and Moussa Esenu and an own goal from Isaac Nsengiyumva secured the first victory for the Blues in the last four matches as the visitors scored a consolation goal through Peter Agblevor.
"I am impressed with the way the players reacted. They were not afraid of Musanze from the beginning to the end, and that is what I have always told them, not to fear any team,” Haringingo said.
"I have a lot of confidence in my players, and I have no doubt that we will win the league title this season,” he added.
The Burundian admitted that the club had to respond after finishing the first round of the league struggling for results.
"I can’t hide my satisfaction with the way we are going about our business. We have sorted out some of the problems which affected the team in the first round. That is why you are seeing the team doing well in the league,” he said.
The victory saw Rayon move second on the table ahead of APR and Kiyovu on goal difference as the three teams are tied on 31 points.
They are now chasing table leaders AS Kigali who are two points clear at the top.
