AFTER Wednesday’s abject display against Rayon Sport, Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh has conceded that the senior national football team needs more games under their belt before embarking on their next assignment- their must win 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin on October 9.
The wasps were held to 2-all draw against an under-strength Rayon side but Tetteh has refused to criticise his team’s weary performance, insisting that people should not read too much into the display.
"Friendly matches are meant to build up fitness among players and give coaches time to try out different tactical formations,” he emphasised.
"Anyway, I think the team did okay on Wednesday. It is unfair to criticise them because they drew. The team will play more friendlies but I have not yet decided who they will play against,” the Ghanaian continued.
Rwanda is bottom of Group H with no point after a 3-0 defeat to Ivory Coast early this month. Ivory Coast tops the group with three points while Burundi and Benin are joint- second with a point each.
Rwanda is seeking a second appearance at Africa’s premier football tournament following their debut in 2004.
