RUSIZI - The construction of a three-classroom block at the new Bweyeye Primary School in Rusizi district has started.

The construction was launched this week with the transfer of 56,000 bricks laid by parents to the construction site.
The construction works delayed because of budgetary constraints, according to officials.

If accomplished, this school will be an answered prayer to many pupils who have been travelling over 120 kilometres to reach the nearest school in Mibirizi sector.

"Having a school nearby will save us a lot of time spent travelling to other provinces in order to attain education,” said John Vianney Iramuha, a form six pupil.

One parent, Phoebe Kwizera, said, "With its completion, the classrooms will alleviate challenges we have been facing especially with respect to the long distances our children had to endure while seeking education.”

Claver Nsengimana, the Executive Secretary of Bweyeye Sector said parents had given their support after realizing the importance of education to their children’s future wellbeing.

Bweyeye is one of Rusizi’s most far flung sectors. It is located about 3 hours drive from the district headquarters.
