Editor,
I am pleased that the Rwandan people and their French counterparts are moving away from the diplomatic spate the two countries had and are cooperating once again in various endeavours.
It pleased me to read in yesterdays issues of The New Times that Karongi District, in the Western Province and the Commune of Dieulefit, in France, had signed a document whose aim is to strengthen the relations between the two communities.
I’m sure that this kind of cooperation will benefit both communities. The cultural exchanges will be eye-openers and I’m sure that there will be increased bi-lateral economic activity in both places.
I encourage other Mayors in Rwanda to jump on this bandwagon and cultivate relations with different places around the world. We are living in a time of globalisation, let us hold fast onto this.
