I do not wish to turn this page into a platform for exchange of words. However, allow me to make the following points clear.

I was at the hospital before 3 pm. It took more than 30 minutes for the KFH staff to get my file; it took some more time waiting for the nurses who was supposed to administer the vaccine.

I kept moving in and out of the vaccination clinic but there was no one to attend to me.

The lady at the reception desk right in front of the vaccination clinic told me to keep waiting, does that mean that I came late?

Secondly, the previous Friday had been a public holiday (Eid) and the hospital didn’t do any immunisation, this implying that the number of babies to be immunised the next Friday was going to be higher than usual, a factor which I think the hospital didn’t consider.

For clarity I took my time and asked the nurse about this. She told me that my child couldn’t get the BCG vaccine on that day because they received more babies than the vaccines they had in stock because they didn’t immunise on the previous Friday.

Contrary to the KFH reply the nurse told me the BCG vaccine they had in stock was finished and they had to request for more from the Kacyiru Police hospital.

I don’t know why she couldn’t tell me the truth (the theory of 20 doses serving 10-12 babies). 

Furthermore, one nurse came into the room and requested if the BCG vaccine was available, she was also told that it is finished.
