Renowned actress and singer Shanel is set to attend the annual Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur in Belgium.  

Shanel, real name Ruth Nirere, is the only one among Rwandan film actors/actresses who has been invited to attend the film festival for French speaking countries.  

Usually, it’s during this week-long event that film personalities including directors, producers, screenwriters and actors from across the world, meet to exchange ideas that build the film industry.  

The event will also feature screenings of the selected best films, among which Rwandan film "Le Jour Où Dieu est Parti en Voyage, Rwanda,” - (the Day God went on a Trip) will be shown to the world.  

The 25-year-old Shanel stars as the main character in this feature film depicting the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The film "Le Jour Où Dieu est Parti en Voyage, Rwanda,” was produced by Artemis and Mugho Productions in 2008.
